#453

I avoided making friends and finding many girlfriends, for I am afraid of the pain that only friends and girlfriends can inflict with their rejections and their betrayals. But at the same time I am protecting myself from the pain, I am denying myself the pleasure of good relationships with good people who would not betray me. Growing up around my psychotic, abusive aunt, I learned that displays of affection were usually followed by outbursts of rage and violence and unexpected punishment. And I believe that is how I've learned to be the way that I am today. All you psychology majors: prove me wrong. Prove your educational might. Show me that it has absolutely no bearing on why I am the violent, angry person I am today and I'll give you a cookie. I am a riddle wrapped in an enigma.
