#263 - Untitled

Here is a rough draft of chapter 1 of my new (and still untitled) story that I'm working on. It is dedicated to a girl I once knew and she will be the star in my little world, from here until completion. I know I need much improvement but I hope at least one of you out there enjoys this first part of my as of yet unknown lengthed tale of madness, destruction and death. I may make a few changes here and there as I go along, but I guess that's why they call this a draft. ;) You see? An error already. Fixed!
UNTITLED By: Derek Lloyd Bentley I

Felicia stood up and waited for it. She could smell the putrid stench of decay long before it rounded the corner and she could see right into its dead, milky eyes, not fifteen feet in front of her. She had hid in this building thinking it was safe. Unfortunately she picked the wrong spot to be in because there was only one way in and one way out of where she was now standing. The door behind her appeared to be locked from the other side and though there were windows to her left, they were heavily boarded up and she was just not strong enough to pry the wood, nails and all, off with her bare hands. As she was trying to think of an alternative way to escape, all the while looking for something to defend herself with and finding nothing, the musty creature slowly lurched towards her again from where it was watching her, its rotten mouth half smiling in amusement at her terror as a single worm wriggled between its teeth. It would be impossible to try to run past the image of rot before her. It was strong. It was vicious. It would rip her apart if she got within reaching distance and drag her down to the hell it came from. But not without first getting a taste of her steaming guts. And brains. Realizing that this was it and there was no hope to get out of this she backed up until she was against the door and slid down to the floor, pulling her knees up close and rested her forehead on her arms. She didn't want it to end this way. She thought she deserved better in life. She counted down the seconds and waited for the exquisite pain that would follow her flesh being torn from the bone like string cheese... There was a sudden crash as glass shattered somewhere behind the wet, rotten zombie and it stopped in its tracks, just five feet in front of the quietly crying and hopeless girl before it. Felicia raised her wet eyes, feeling the lost glimmer of hope that just seconds before was as dead as this bloodthirsty abomination that wanted to eat her alive. A spray of gunfire rang out that, in this confined area, was deafening. The zombie half gurgled (laughter?), half roared as the bullets ripped through its midsection, spraying black ooze all over Felicia's face. She could feel the bile start to rise up out of repulsion but held it down. It just wasn't the time. The very old and very decayed zombie slowly turned around and stared hungrily at the new prey holding one of their human toys, which happened to be an uzi. This was Felicia's chance to get the hell out of here. She got up and ran, yelling "I'm unarmed!" hoping the strangers wouldn't decide to open fire on her, and pushed the once-human abomination forward and against the wall where it lost its balance and toppled to the floor in a heap. Felicia ran and ran down seemingly endless hallways and finally crashed through the front doors of the office building and into the chilly night air. She did not have time to see who had given her one more chance at life, but she didn't really care. All she knew is that she wanted to get the fuck out of there before that fucking rotted bag of bones decided to get up and try to have its hungry way with her once more.

Edit: Chapter II coming soon...
