Sony launches "Station Exchange"
President of Sony Online Entertainment John Smedley is to launch a service (called the "Station Exchange") that would allow players of EverQuest II to sell their gear for real world cash. Could this change things for the mmoRPG world? Currently it is against the EULA in most massively multiplayer online games to sell items on sites such as Ebay (intellectual property stuff). Problems could arise from all this, however; bots may become rampant and allow people to make tons of hard cash for next to nothing. And if they start allowing the selling of game currency, it will most assuredly destroy the in-game economy aswell (i.e., items will start costing a lot more than normal every day players could afford, because of the massive amounts of money floating around). We'll have to see if this works out for the best. In other mmoRPG news, World Of Warcraft has finally activated their Honor System (for instance, if you kill someone who is a much lower level than you, you will be punished for it. Do it enough, and your own faction will be out to get you). It still isn't enough to get me to play again...
